HIV-Related Deaths Among Children
An estimated 95,000 children under the age of 14 are living with HIV in Uganda. Many of these children acquire the virus through mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding. Despite advancements in prevention methods, approximately 5,000 new infections occur annually among children. Early diagnosis and access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) are essential but remain challenging in many rural and underserved areas. Sadly, stigma and limited healthcare infrastructure delay diagnosis and treatment, leading to preventable suffering and loss of life.
Uganda has the unfortunate distinction of having one of the highest numbers of orphans due to HIV/AIDS globally. Over 1.1 million children in Uganda have lost one or both parents to the disease. These orphans face immense hardships, including poverty, lack of education, malnutrition, and social stigma. Without parental care, many children are forced into unsafe living conditions or child labor, further endangering their well-being and future prospects.

Caring for vulnerable children requires resources and the support of compassionate individuals and organizations. Donations play a crucial role in covering essential costs such as food, education, healthcare, and operational expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference in the lives of these children..
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, our support has declined dramatically, leaving us struggling to meet even the basic needs of the children we care for. Unexpected medical or urgent crises often leave us feeling overwhelmed and without sufficient resources to respond effectively.
We are in urgent need of supporters. Your partnership, whether through a regular monthly gift or a one-time contribution, can be a lifeline for these children. Together, we can ensure they have the care and opportunities they need to thrive.
